On May 7, 119 graduates will walk the stage at Bacone College in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Musician, speaker, and actor Gary “Litefoot” Davis will be this year’s guest speaker. His theatrical roles include “Mortal Kombat,” and “The Indian in the Cupboard,” and his television roles have included “House of Cards,” “CSI: Miami,” and “Any Day Now.”

Davis is the president and CEO of the National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development, and was recently selected as a recipient of the “Sevenstar Award” from the Cherokee Nation Historical Society. The award is presented to a Cherokee who is accomplished in a chosen field, brought honor to the Cherokee people and serves as an inspiration to others.

At the graduation ceremony, Lou C. Kerr, president and chair of the Kerr Foundation, will receive an honorary doctorate of humane letters. A former trustee for Bacone, Kerr helped found Red Earth, Inc., For Youth Initiatives, and the Oklahoma City Public Schools Foundation. Kerr is on the board of directors for a number of organizations including NPR, National Academy of Public Administration, National Symphony Orchestra, Women’s Presidents Organization, and International Women’s Forum.
