During a visit to New York City by Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney recently, the group known as DRP Capitol Group, which acts as a voice for undocumented youth, had a chance to ask Romney about the Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act (Dream Act).
According to the DREAM Act website, the purpose of the Act “is to help those individuals who meet certain requirements, have an opportunity to enlist in the military or go to college and have a path to citizenship which they otherwise would not have without this legislation.”
Romney was in town for a fundraiser when Latino voters made their appearance and one, Lucy, managed to ask the presidential hopeful a few questions.
“Are you going to support the DREAM Act,” Lucy asks.
Romney responded, “I already said, across the country, I would veto the Dream Act.”
When Lucy informs Romney, while they are shaking hands, that she is undocumented, you can see Romney pull his hand away. All before one of Romney’s campaign staffers intervened.
