Miss Indian Nations is Aspiring Filmmaker

A Native American college student of the Yakima Nation was recently crowned Miss Indian Nations.

Miss Indian Nations XIX Shanoa Pinkham, who is 21 and of the Yakima Nation, is seen in this photo being congratulated by elder Vera Kingbird, Ho-Chunk, on September 1o at the 42nd Annual United Tribes International Powwow in Bismarck, North Dakota, after being crowned.

Pinkham is taking over as Miss Indian Nations from Evereta Thinn, a 26-year-old Dine graduate of Arizona State University. Pinkham is currently a student at the University of Washington majoring in communications and American Indian studies. She aspires to be a documentary director/writer.

Avery Thompson, of Crow Creek descent, is seen escorting Miss Indian Nations around the arena.
