Since launching her Let's Move! and Let's Move! in Indian Country campaigns to inspire youth to exercise and eat right, First Lady Michelle Obama continues to spearhead creative ways to promote physical activity.
On Sunday, December 11, Mrs. Obama lead about 400 Washington D.C.-area elementary and middle school kids in a jumping-jack marathon on the White House South Lawn, reported Yahoo! News. Meanwhile, participants across the world also held jumping jack events. In total, 300,265 people helped the First Lady beat the previous Guinness Book of World Record of 20,000 people performing jumping jacks in a 24-hour period.
"More than anything, I want to say, thanks to every single young person who showed that exercise isn't just good for you, but that it's fun too," Mrs. Obama told Yahoo! News. The effort was organized by National Geographic Kids magazine in support of the Let's Move! initiative.
