Michael Greyeyes, Native leader Qaletaqa Walker on Black Hat Reservation on Fear the Walking Dead, is ‘Jazzed’ to be at San Diego Comic-Con
Those in Indian country who are fans of zombies and The Walking Dead franchise will be thrilled to learn that this season of Fear the Walking Dead contains a massive post-apocalyptic storyline involving the Native members of the Black Hat Reservation. The tribal nation leader Qelataqa Walker is portrayed by Michael Greyeyes, who is now at the world-famous San Diego Comic-Con, which takes place this weekend.
Michael Greyeyes says he is “jazzed” to be the newest addition to Fear the Walking Dead series, and told ICMN that he is also excited to be at the San Diego Comic-Con.
“SDCC is a dream come true. I was an avid reader of the Zombie genre from the time I was 10. In fact, comics were a huge part of my life, so I’m just a grown-up fan boy, and I feel like a kid in a candy store!”
The annual San Diego Comic-Con, founded in 1970, is a mashup celebration of the biggest and baddest in TV, film, comics and toys. It has grown over the decades to include attendance numbers topping 130,000, a massive 460,000-square-foot exhibition hall and over 700 satellite events.
The San Diego Comic-Con events have also been the place to be for comic, film and TV nerds as industry big-wigs use the platform to unveil the newest film trailers, easter eggs and more. This year’s event has so far unveiled the new Batmobile to be used in the upcoming Justice League with Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ben Affleck as Batman and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman.
Michael Greyeyes told ICMN that in addition to the fun, he is honored to be representing Indian Country through his role as the tribal leader Qelataqa Walker, a Native man leading tribal members, who face ranchers (with the last name Otto) over land disputes and more in Fear the Walking Dead.
Michael Greyeyes will also be part of this year’s Walking Dead actor panels, which have been hugely popular at the Comic-Con.
This year’s Fear The Walking Dead panelists include actors Kim Dickens, Frank Dillane, Alycia Debnam-Carey, and of course Michael Greyeyes. They will be joined by producers including Gale Anne Hurd, (Executive Producer of Mankiller, Fear the Walking Dead and The Walking Dead) to discuss the series.
The Fear the Walking Dead panel will be on Friday July 21 from 11:15PM-12:15PM in Hall H, followed immediately after by The Walking Dead from 12:15PM-1:15PM in Hall H.
There will also be autograph sessions for The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead during the convention – with Fear the Walking Dead‘s signing set for Saturday, July 22 from 12 PM-1PM in the Martin Luther King Jr. Plaza.
