A teen-ager was hospitalized in stable condition Nov. 30 after he fell through ice on Legend Lake following a two-hour foot chase by tribal police officers. Tribal Police Chief Keith Tourtillot said the 18-year-old Keshena man was apprehended early Nov. 29 after officers were called to investigate a report of vehicles causing a disturbance or drag racing. Officers tried to make a traffic stop of the teen's vehicle, but once it stopped, the young man fled on foot, Tourtillot said. Police eventually heard his cries for help from the waters of the lake, the police chief said. Fire Chief Ben Warrington said firefighters were then called to the scene, and the man was rescued and taken to the Shawano Medical Center.
