Mayor calls on feds to start talks

Mayor Bob Kilger is calling on the federal government to resolve the current dispute in Akwesasne that has led to the closure of the Seaway bridge. The mayor questioned the government's level of involvement in the dispute as the bridge closure dragged on into the late afternoon hours Monday. Kilger is trying to secure a meeting with Public Safety Minister Peter Van Loan who suggested Monday the Cornwall border crossing wouldn't be exempted from the nation-wide policy to arm border guards.
