Makah help seize $720,000 worth of Ecstasy

MAKAH, Wash. – The U.S. Coast Guard, in cooperation with Makah Tribal Enforcement, stopped an 18-foot vessel Aug. 27 and seized 60,000 tablets of Ecstasy, worth about $720,000, found aboard the vessel.

The Coast Guard Station Neah Bay boat crew, while on a patrol, observed as the boat headed south of the U.S.-Canada border in the Strait of Juan de Fuca near Neah Bay, at about 6:30 p.m.

The Coast Guard boarded the vessel and found one duffle bag, the contents of which field-tested positive as Ecstasy.

The suspected smuggler was detained by the Coast Guard boarding team and later arrested by members of Coast Guard Investigative Service.

The suspect was transported to Clallam County Jail and the drugs were transferred to the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office.
