Lakota descendant tells tales of Custer lore, U.S. Indian Wars


Although they once feared him, Native American tribes still hold great respect for Gen. George Armstrong Custer, whom they defeated at the Battle of the Little Bighorn on the plains of Montana. “Custer was a very brave man,” Donovin Sprague, a descendant of Chiefs Hump and Crazy Horse, told an audience at the River Raisin Centre for the Arts Sunday afternoon. “His Civil War record was superior.”
