Last year, more than 60,000 people accepted the American Diabetes Association's (ADA) “Join the Million Challenge” by testing their risk for developing type 2 diabetes with the Diabetes Risk Test.
The ADA aims to top that number this year on March 27, inspiring people to take the all-new Diabetes Risk Test available online.
The association also recommends everyone share their test results with people they care about—friends, family members and colleagues.
American Diabetes Association Alert Day, held every fourth Tuesday in March, is intended to serve as a one-day “wake-up call” to the public to learn if they are at risk for developing the disease and how they can prevent it.
The new Diabetes Risk Test asks users to answer simple questions about weight, age, family history and other potential risk factors for prediabetes or type 2 diabetes. Preventative tips are provided for everyone who takes the test. Those diagnosed as at high-risk are encouraged to talk with their health care provider.
