Judge dismisses expulsion case against nontribal whistleblower

Expulsion charges against a nontribal whistleblower were dismissed Tuesday by Chippewa Cree Tribal Judge Joel Rosette. "The judge said my case didn't meet any of the criteria for expelling me from the reservation," said Jennifer Helaire, a former tribal foster mother. Helaire said the legal charges were stuck in her door a few days after she called Bureau of Indian Affairs headquarters in Washington, D.C., to complain about the way tribal officials allegedly disregarded the needs of foster children on the Rocky Boy's Reservation.
