Is Dan Snyder Secretly Maneuvering to Change Redskins Name?

A story about a ThinkProgress report that suggest Dan Snyder may secretly be working to change the Washington Redskins name.

Could Dan Snyder's "We'll NEVER change the Redskins name" go the way of George H.W. Bush's "Read my lips: No new taxes"?

Travis Waldron of ThinkProgress, a project of the Center for American Progress Action Fund, reports that Luntz Global, a top strategy and messaging group with the motto "It's not what you say, it's what they hear," is "conducting a football focus group in Alexandria, Virginia, on June 13, where it will pay participants $100 to share their opinions about the current state of America’s most popular professional sports league and the Washington Redskins, the NFL franchise embroiled in controversy and a federal trademark lawsuit involving its name."

Repeated attempts by Waldron to reach both Luntz Global and Snyder's NFL club for comment were not returned. The NFL did respond, denying any involvment with the June 13 focus group.

"It is unclear whether the Redskins are working with Luntz, but for a team that has spent much of the offseason surrounded by controversy about its name, such expertise could be useful," notes Waldron.
