Indian tribe signs $8bn blackjack deal

FLORIDA has signed a 20-year deal worth an estimated $US6.8 billion ($8 billion) with the native American Seminole tribe for their right to offer blackjack games at their casinos, the state's governor said. Although Governor Charlie Crist and Seminole Chairman Mitchell Cypress signed the agreement, the move still needs approval from the state legislature to take effect. The deal means that the tribe - considered an autonomous group largely not governed by state law - can operate the card games in casinos on their reservations.
