“The facility is safe,” Indian Health Services officials want to assure local Native Americans of the Fort Yuma outpatient clinic that serves the Quechan and Cocopah Indian tribes. The assurance comes after IHS officials confirmed earlier this week that some open wound care patients at the Fort Yuma Service Unit may have been exposed to blood-borne pathogens two years ago because instruments used for their treatment weren't sterilized.
