Hot meals may be more important than books

The ultimate goal for each student is posted on the wall of Wyoming Indian Elementary School. The poster asks, “What road are we on?” and the reply reads, “The Red Road to college!” The “Red Road” is best described as “the right path in life” in Arapaho and Shoshone Indian culture. The concept is repeated throughout the school district. But school administrators and lawmakers alike know that the “Red Road” often is paved in green.
