A radio station operated by the tribe won't be getting a financial boost from the state. Gov. Jane Hull vetoed a bill May 8 which would have provided $105,000 to radio station KUYI. The station started broadcasting local programming, news and announcements such as job openings and school information in the Hopi language Dec. 20. The Hopi Foundation sought the state money to help its efforts to cover expenses for the first two years of operation.
