Hopes for casino get a boost


Tribes behind the Beloit Casino Project remain “guardedly optimistic” after a national newspaper this week reported the Obama administration is reconsidering decisions made under the Bush presidency, project spokesman Joseph Hunt said.

The Wall Street Journal on Monday quoted George Skibine, a deputy assistant secretary at the Bureau of Indian Affairs, saying the Obama administration is “rethinking” the directive mandating off-reservation casinos within a commutable distance of the reservation.
