Raising Arizona Kids Magazine (RAK)spoke to a family of Navajo/Maricopa Indian hoop dancers for their September Performing Arts issue. This caught our attention as Indian Country Today Media Network had just written a piece on Tony Duncan, champion hoop dancer, who has a family of dancing brothers. In the same competition that Tony won his first adult championship, Tyrese Jensen nabbed his second Youth Championship title while his father, Lane, placed second right behind Tony. As RAK magazine explains, in this video "Lane and LaDawn Jensen talk about a life of competitive and performance traditional dance, and why they choose to raise their family balanced between two worlds: suburban Mesa, Arizona --and their home up north, within the Navajo nation."
