History of Metis Indians to be focus of new panel

A 4-by-6-foot interpretive panel highlighting the history of the Metis Indians on the Rocky Mountain Front will be dedicated next week at the Ear Mountain Trailhead 25 miles west of Choteau, the U.S. Bureau of Land Management said Monday. Metis are mixed blood French, Scottish and Indian people who evolved during the 17th century Canadian fur trade era.
