Celebrity chefs are taking their chops to Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut.
The lineup includes Food Network star Guy Fieri; Cat Cora, the first woman to win "Iron Chef," and Richard Rawlings of the Discovery Channel's "Fast N’ Loud."
Fieri, the "Diners, Drive-in and Dives" personality, will bring Guy Fieri's Kitchen + Bar to New England. The 8,200-square-foot, 190-seat restaurant will feature an open kitchen and bar design, with his trademark bold flavors. Fieri has four Kitchen restaurants — in Las Vegas; New York City; Baltimore, Maryland; and Mt. Pocono, Pennsylvinia — as well other restaurants including his Burger Joints, Bar-B-Que Joints, Chophouse in Atlantic City, and his Mexican eatery El Burro Borracho at the Rio in Vegas.
Fieri is no stranger to American Indian cuisine. Fieri not only visited Tocabe: An American Indian Eatery, located in northwest Denver, on his showDiners, Drive-Ins and Dives, he stepped into the kitchen to learn how to make an Indian taco. Created exclusively for Foxwoods, Cat Cora's Wine Bar will offer tapas bar, wines and Mediterranean small plates and creative cocktails. Cora, a Food Network fixture, owns such restaurants as Ocean by Cat Cora in Singapore and Cat Cora's Kitchen in airports in Houston, Salt Lake City and San Francisco.
Rawlings — entrepreneur, auto mechanic, race car driver and media personality — will open the Texas roadhouse-style BBQ joint Garage Bar & Grill, also serving local brews. Rawlings also owns the Gas Monkey Garage in Dallas, Texas.
A fourth eatery, pop culture sensation Sugar Factory American Brasserie, will open this fall, around the same time as the others. The four additions are part of the resort's quest to make a name for itself in the northeast with recognizable yet unique offerings.
"In today’s market, consumers are looking beyond the traditional ‘dinner and a show’ model, and we’re upping the ante to give them a fully comprehensive experience that includes creative food menus, inventive cocktails, pop culture and live music – or ‘eatertainment’ as we like to call it – all in one place," said Felix Rappaport, President and CEO of Foxwoods Resort Casino, in a news release.
Foxwoods made the announcement on June 3 as part of the Best Buddies Tom Brady Football Challenge at Harvard Stadium in Allston, Massachusetts, where the property presented Best Buddies Chairman and Founder Anthony K. Shriver with a $75,000 donation on its behalf. Rappaport and other Foxwoods executives were joined during the Foxwoods Halftime Show by Fieri, Rawlings and Melanie “Mel B.” Brown of The Spice Girls, who appeared on behalf of Sugar Factory. The event also featured Cora, who appeared in a pre-taped welcome video at the onset of the announcement.
"We are determined to create new, exhilarating experiences that are completely unique to the region and exceed all expectations," said Jason Guyot, Vice President of Resort Operations and Development at Foxwoods Resort Casino. "This is the first of many new amenities coming to Foxwoods as we solidify ourselves as the premier resort destination in the Northeast."
