Gun Lake Casino Celebrating First Anniversary for Full Month of February

The Wayland, Michigan-based Gun Lake Casino, owned by the Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Band of Pottawatomi Indians, will celebrate its first anniversary during the entire month of February.

The casino opened its doors on February 10, 2011, offering 28 table games, more than 1,400 slot machines, live entertainment and dining options. The operation has generated 900 new jobs in the community and spends money on local vendors.

During its first eight months, Gun Lake Casino paid out $10.37 million to the State and Local Revenue Sharing Boards. The revenue sharing payments, which are made twice a year, are in place to reimburse local governments for any costs associated with casino operations, replacement of tax revenue and public services. Local revenue sharing payments have aided in eliminating “pay to participate” fees at Wayland middle and high school, improving local roads, and reducing costs associated with pre-school.

“We’re very excited to celebrate our first anniversary,” said John Shagonaby, chief executive officer of the Gun Lake Tribal Gaming Authority, in a statement. “We’re thankful to the local community for the support, the guests of Gun Lake Casino, our management partner, Station Casinos, along with all of our team members. We look forward to many more successful years to come.”

To celebrate the one year anniversary, Gun Lake Casino will be giving away over $500,000 in cash and prizes throughout the entire month of February, including giving away a new car every Sunday. Guests can earn entries into the Sunday “Cars & Cash Anniversary Bash” promotion each week in February, with cash drawings from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., and the grand prize cash drawing at 6 p.m.

Every Tuesday and Thursday in February, one guest will be selected to step into a cash cube of blowing money to grab up to $22,000 in cash, every hour from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Guests can earn entries into the “Cash Cube” promotion every week. Guests can also receive 50 percent off at Sandhill Café every Monday and Wednesday for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
