DETROIT, Mich. – Greektown Casino-Hotel has been selected as the 2008 Employer of the Year by Goodwill Industries. Greektown was honored April 14 at the Goodwill Awards Luncheon at the Hockeytown Café.

Fine, managing director of the Fine Point Group and CEO of Greektown Casino-Hotel. “Greektown has always been committed to providing all members of our community with great opportunities for employment and this commitment is more important than ever during the difficult economic times we face here in Detroit.”
Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit aims to provide people with disabilities and other barriers to employment with opportunities to become independent, self-supporting citizens through training, work experience and employment in the community. In 2008, Greektown Casino-Hotel hired 20 trainees from the Detroit Workforce Development Department Hospitality/Retail Career Center in partnership with Goodwill Industries to further its commitment to hiring and promoting individuals with disabilities. The Hotel Retail Management Apprenticeship Program, which trains individuals for future management careers, is a new collaboration with Greektown Casino-Hotel, Detroit Workforce Development Department and Goodwill Industries.
