A check for more than $3.8 million will be presented to tribal officials Oct. 11 for the Ira Hayes Memorial Applied Learning Center on the reservation . The award is the largest in USDA Rural Development's funding to rural Arizona. The center will allow high school students from the community to attend classes locally. Now they are bussed to other high schools off the reservation. Half is a direct loan from the agency's Community Facility Loan Fund and other half is a loan made by Bank of America, and guaranteed by the agency.
