John Gerdener was sworn in as the Commissioner of Finance for the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe on May 16.
Gerdener becomes the chief financial officer for the band’s Office of Management and Budget. His responsibilities include band financial activities, financial reporting, investments, tribal government accounting, administering the band’s taxation activities, personal loan program and burial insurance program.
“This is an exciting time to work for the Band as Commissioner of Finance, as we work to protect and enhance the Band’s assets,” said Gerdener.
Gerdener previously owned a financial consulting practice and was a member of senior leadership at a large public accounting firm. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin.
