From the seed of change: Evelyn Stevenson leads by example

It was during a time when Indians were not yet citizens of the United States when tribal attorney Evelyn Stevenson's mother Eva Matt, Salish, was born in Pablo. Ms. Matt feared her children would not be citizens either even after the citizenship act was enacted in 1924. It was the era of assimilation, relocation and boarding schools when Ms. Matt grew up on the reservation leading her into the rest of her life to be on time and do what she was told.
