While Foxwoods Theater's Broadway production of "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark," has been making a lot of money on ticket sales and even more national headlines due to injuries, delays, and actresses quitting, the rest of 2011 looks pretty smooth for Foxwoods and MGM Grand at Foxwoods. Here's a snapshot of what's to come:
The B-52s are set to play the MGM Grand Theater this Friday, January 21st, with Led Zeppelin legendary frontman Robert Plant and his Band of Joy coming a week later on the 28th.
February brings pop crowd pleaser Enrique Iglesias on the 3rd, and country icon Toby Keith will headline the MGM Grand Theater on February 11th.
The best poker players from last year will be gathering at the Mega Stack Challenge XIX at Foxwoods in February, bringing the nine final players from November 2010's World Series of Poker. This is followed by the Foxwoods Poker Classic, in April, with the Mega Stack Challenge returning once again in May.
Another "act" new to Foxwoods is the beloved New York-based Asian patisserie Fay Day Baker, which recently opened in Foxwoods' Rainmaker Square. The famous eatery rose to fame in downtown Manhattan in the early 1990s, specializing in breads, bubble teas, cakes and cookies. This is the first location outside of the New York area that Fay Day Baker has opened, joining other venerable New York City institutions at Foxwoods Juniors, the Brooklyn-based deli, and the Comix Comedy Club, one of Manhattan's most popular comedy clubs.
