Former Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians Vice Chief Bill Ledford Walks On

Former tribal council member and Vice Chief of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians Bill Ledford walked on October 28.

He served the tribe for more than 25 years, reports The Cherokee One Feather. He served as vice chief from 1995-1999 and also earlier from 1987-1991. He was also the Birdtown Representative of the Tribal Council for eight years.

Ledford, who was born in 1931, was a member of the United States Armed Forces.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 2 at 4 p.m. at the Chief Joyce Dugan Cultural Arts Center at the Cherokee Central School on Big Cove Road in Cherokee, North Carolina.
