Phil Little Thunder’s eyes, standing out against the black paint that surrounded them, took in the adults and children dancing around him as the song filled his ears. While Little Thunder, a member of the Rosebud Lakota tribe, danced to the heavy drumming and singing that filled the Vermillion High School gymnasium Sunday, he knew he was dancing for his children, his family, their heritage and for the many generations of American Indians who surrounded him.
