Fantasy Springs Resort Casino names winner

INDIO, Calif. - As the annual March college basketball tournament played on the overhead TV screens in the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino poker room, so began the drive to the championship for one of 64 players competing for top honors in the ''March Madness Poker Tournament.'' At stake was a $3,000 jackpot and bragging rights for an entire year.

After hours of No-Limit Texas Hold 'Em poker playing, it came down to the final head-to-head shootout. The last player sitting at the PokerPro Automated Heads Up Table was Phillip Ringo of Thousand Palms.

Ringo has been playing at Fantasy Springs for some time and has recently become a student of the game of poker. His newfound expertise helped him win his way to the $3,000 jackpot March 27.
