Bernard Gracy Jr., who has spent the last 14 years researching his family ancestry, will teach others what he's learned along the way at the 2012 Illinois Family History Expo August 3-4 at the Crowne Plaza Springfield, 3000 S. Dirksen Parkway in Springfield, Illinois.

“I’ll be teaching a course on DNA,” Gracy told the State Journal-Register. “It will help people find family—like cousins—identify biogeographical markers and learn their medical history.”

The expo will be held from 1 to 9 p.m. on Friday, August 3 and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on August 4. The expo is $69 for both days if you pre-register, $59 for one day or $99 at the door for both days. To register visit

Gracy's keynote address is free to attend, as are professional demonstrations in the exhibit hall.
