Tribal Journeys Day celebration

Bellingham, Wash. - (Above) Lummi artist Ernestine Gensaw explained how to make a cedar canoe-bailer during the Tribal Journeys Day celebration July 7 at Boulevard Park in Bellingham, Wash. The event celebrated the beginning of the annual Intertribal Canoe Journey and included a proclamation by local, state and federal officials recognizing the Coast Salish as the ''First Peoples of this Land and These Waters.''
