Citizen Potawatomi Nation Family Reunion

SHAWNEE, Okla. - More than 5,000 members attended this year's Citizen Potawatomi Nation Family Reunion June 29 - July 1. This year's events included an election, pow wow, archery competition, youth arts and crafts, health screenings, language classes, Potawatomi namings, swimming, Gourd dancing, a frybread competition, traditional hand games and many other events.

(Top) Vice Chairman Linda Capps and Chairman John ''Rocky'' Barrett participated in the grand entry at the Citizen Potawatomi Nation Family Reunion pow wow June 30.

(Middle) The Citizen Potawatomi Veterans' Color Guard led the dancers durring grand entry. Veterans were honored with a special dance and other events.

(Bottom) Nation member PFC Casey Slavin was honored at the pow wow. Slavin had just finished basic training and drove more than 900 miles to attend the festival. Slavin reported to duty at Fort Hood July 3.
