EDITORIAL: Time to start dealing with the Shinnecocks

More than three decades after the Shinnecock Indian Nation applied for federal recognition, there's every reason to believe that the finish line is months - not years - away. So it's time for Albany to deal seriously with the tribe about reasonable casino locations. If the state doesn't talk to the Shinnecocks about places that make some sense, such as Belmont Park in Elmont or spots in Suffolk, the tribe could decide to do what it won't need any further approvals to do: Build a casino in Hampton Bays.
