Eastern Shawnee tribe to build casino in Ottawa County

A new multi-million dollar Eastern Shawnee casino, expected to open in 2012, will be the 13th gaming facility in Ottawa County. "It will be quite comparable to Downstream Casino," Chief Glenna Wallace said, referring to the casino resort built by the Quapaw Tribe. The new $87 million casino will be located in Oklahoma off U.S. 60 near the state's border. It will be about a mile from the tribe's existing gaming establishment, Bordertown Casino, in nearby Seneca, Mo., Wallace said. The tribe's current casino is on Oklahoma land, but to get to the casino, customers have to go into Seneca, she said.
