Discussing the Wording of REDD at COP17

Stepping away from the daily events of COP17 in Durban, South Africa on December 4, Victoria Tauli-Corpuz, executive director of the Indigenous Peoples’ International Centre for Policy and Research Education (Tebtebba Foundation) in the Philippines answered questions from Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) at Forest Day 5 about the REDD discussions.

When asked about the current text of REDD doing enough to ensure the rights of indigenous people are protected Tauli-Corpuz said, “I think the document is good at least from the perspective of Indigenous Peoples because it does recognize that the information system and safeguards should be developed at the country level.”
