Developer Sheldon Gordon plans to build an upscale outlet mall with roughly 85 shops at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut.
The Outlet Shoppes at Foxwoods would cover 320,000 square feet, the chairman of Greenwich, Connecticut-based Sheldon Group Holdings told The Day of New London. Gordon said he is in the process of securing financing for the mall.
Gordon's resume of retail projects includes The Forum Shops at Caesars in Las Vegas, The Pier Shops at Caesars in Atlantic City, The Beverly Center in Los Angeles and The Shops at Mohegan Sun.
Gordon has "lined up" most of the shops for Foxwoods. He declined to name the stores but described them as "outlet versions" of some of the high-end stores at his other projects. Mohegan Sun's retail options include the likes of Coach and Tommy Bahama, whereas Caesars in Las Vegas features upscale designers such as Christian Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Tiffany & Co.
Foxwoods officials declined to comment on the mall proposal, adding that they will announce property development and expansion plans on February 15 on Foxwoods' 20th anniversary. A casino press release said it would additionally unveil "a new, unrivaled rewards program, a sleek new brand platform and web and mobile enhancements."
