Deputies: Pact with tribe discriminates

Glacier County Sheriff's deputies called on county commissioners Monday to change a cross-deputization agreement that they contend is racially discriminatory before signing it again. "We need to start with a clean slate," said Sheriff Wayne Dusterhoff. Glacier County Commission Chairman Mike DesRosier had signed the agreement Aug. 6 with the Blackfeet Tribe on behalf of the county, but commissioners revoked it last week when the Cut Bank Pioneer Press threatened them with a lawsuit for violating the state's open-meetings law.
