Dalton, 69, was Indian gaming pioneer in Jackson

Margaret Dalton, longtime leader of the Jackson Rancheria Band of Miwuk Indians and a pioneer in the Indian casino movement in California, died Sunday. She was 69. Dalton led the small band from the time it formed a tribal government in 1979 until her death. Business associates and family members credit her leadership with transforming the landscape, the tribe and the Amador County economy.
