Band members came to the Capitol to help raise $1.4 million for the National World War II Memorial. "In World War II, we served so heavily in our armed forces, far disproportionate to our numbers in the American population," Chairwoman Sue Shaffer said April 27. Ground for the Washington, D.C., memorial is scheduled to be broken later this year if the national goal of $100 million is reached. The tribe plans several events to reach its goal, including a dinner at its Seven Feathers Hotel and Casino in Canyonville.
