At a November 2008 ceremony, the Coushatta Tribe recognized and honored official representatives of the State of Israel--the first Indian tribe to extend such a welcome, the news release states.
At the event, Asher Yarden, then the Consulate General of Israel to the Southwest, signed a proclamation in recognition of “common histories” and a “shared spirit of endurance” between Israel and the Coushatta Tribe. The proclamation ceremony kicked off various trade and business opportunities between the nations, ultimately leading to inking this new deal with Aya Natural.
The tribe formed Coushatta Global Enterprises LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Coushatta Tribe, to become the exclusive importer of the olive oil-based products.
The company will launch the products with a branded sale at a specially designed kiosk in Coushatta Casino Resort Gift Shop, in addition to creating and promoting an e-commerce website.
The line’s biodegradable, natural soaps and face and body creams, amongst other products, are developed with a Galilean olive oil base and no petrochemical ingredients. The cold-pressed olive oil offers essential and botanical oils, vitamins, minerals, and are available in naturals scents like lavender, rose and olive oil.
The move will diversify the Coushatta’s portfolio, generating revenue outside of gaming and create new jobs.
“While the Aya relationship is a milestone, we feel that this is really just the beginning of our economic development and revenue expansion efforts.” said David Sickey, Coushatta Tribe Vice-Chairman.
