Continental Carbon Co., Ponca Tribe reach settlement in pollution lawsuit


A $10.5 million settlement has been worked out in a class-action lawsuit brought by the Ponca Tribe of Indians and about 1,800 other landowners against Continental Carbon Co. over alleged pollution damages caused by black dust from a carbon black plant in Ponca City. Other defendants in the lawsuit filed in 2005 were CCC USA Corp. and the China Synthetic Rubber Corp. The case was certified as a class action in January 2007.
