On a Saturday in late May neighbors of all ages gathered at Grand Meadows to show their appreciation of the tribal elders. Cars were washed, lawns were mowed, weeds were pulled, driveways were swept and heavy furniture was moved. Elders also were presented with flowers. "It's a good thing to do for the elders," said 6-year-old Shane Reibach, as he pulled weeds for elder Maxine Leno. Tribal member Jan Michael Reibach established the community project and hopes that next year and in the years to come, it can be expanded to the new elder housing area and eventually to the entire Grand Ronde community.
