The tribes and Spirit Mountain Community Fund made a $100,000 donation to the city's new library. The gift will pay for a garden on the northwest corner of the building. The contribution brings the foundation to within $1.2 million of its $4.5 million fund-raising goal. The nationm which owns Spirit Mountain Casino, established the charitable fund in 1997. The tribes give 6 percent of casino profits to organizations in Western Oregon. Construction of the 90,000-square-foot library will begin later this year, replacing one that is one-third its size. The library foundation is raising money to help furnish and equip the new library, scheduled to open in 2002.
