Reservation officials say they plan to meet with Flathead Lake property owners to discuss the effects of water levels at a 78-year low. The tribes mailed information packets to 600 dock owners explaining low water levels and predicting what those levels will be later this month. Richard Janssen, tribal spokesman, said Aug. 6 the tribes are asking property owners to report stranded boats and lost boating days. "We want to document how landowners are being affected,'' he said. "We want their concerns and comments in writing, and we want photographs.'' Janssen said low snowpack has feeder streams putting much less water into the lake than is flowing out through Kerr Dam. Nearly two-dozen people already have reported boats stuck on shore stations.
