The next battleground in the dispute between the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and the City of Duluth: a courtroom. Band Chairwoman Karen Diver said she will not comply with the city’s request to reverse her decision to withhold revenue generated by slot machines at the Fond-du-Luth Casino. That will force the city to seek an injunction asking a federal court to uphold their contract. By law, the city has to give the band 30 days notice to reverse course before filing for the injunction.
