Press Release

Native American youth ages eight to 18 are invited to participate in the Native American Junior Open golf tournament Saturday, June 7 at Lakeview Golf Course in Ardmore.

The Native American Junior Open is a qualifying tournament which allows youth to experience a tournament atmosphere without the pressure of a school or golf association tournament. It allows youth to display the knowledge and skills they have acquired in the game of golf. It is also a qualifying tournament for Chickasaw youth ages 12-18 for five male and female available positions on Team Chickasaw. Team Chickasaw will participate in an annual national tournament and various other tournaments throughout the year.

Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. Tournament play starts at 12:30 p.m.

A $20 registration fee is required. The fee will cover green fees, lunch and range balls. Pre-registration is not available.

Awards will be presented for longest drive and closest to the pin. Trophies will be given for first through third place per age group. Participants will also have the opportunity to win door prizes.

Please bring proof of tribal Citizenship to participate. For more information, contact the Chickasaw Nation Division of Youth Services at (580) 272-5716.
