Federal agents today charged a man in the shooting death of a 22-year-old woman who was the mother of his child. James Ernest Lespier, 31, is charged in a federal complaint with one count of murder in the death of Erien Amanda Smith, according to a statement by the U.S. Attorney's Office. Lespier called 911 at 1:18 a.m. Tuesday to report that Smith was dead at his home on Crowe Drive in the Cherokee Indian Reservation, according to federal documents.
