Efforts to allow casino gambling in Texas, including operations at Speaking Rock Casino, met their demise for the current legislative session Tuesday. State Rep. Edmund Kuempel, R-Seguin -- who collapsed late Tuesday and was author of a broad-based proposal to amend the state constitution to let voters decide whether casinos should be allowed in Texas -- said the fight to get gambling in the state was over.
