In what is a fairly regular occurrence for Mount Rushmore workers, a man was arrested climbing on the loose rock directly below the carvings of the four presidents, the Associated Press reports. Mount Rushmore spokeswoman Maureen McGee-Ballinger told the AP that the climber was arrested at about 2:15 p.m. on Monday. He's being charged with trespassing and climbing the memorial. McGee-Ballinger said that no visitors were in danger, nor were the sculptures.
Similar incidents happen several times a year, with the site having to upgrade security after members of Greenpeace climbed the mountain in 2009.
