The SouthWest Organizing Project, publisher of 500 Years of Chicano History in Pictures, will offer the book for free to Arizona students. This offer is in response to the book being included in a ban by the Tucson Unified School District.

SWOP will give all Arizona residents a 50 percent discount on the book's original price of $25, and will give it to any Arizona student who requests the book via letter. In the letter, students must describe why they think it's important to accurately teach Chicano and Native American history to youth.

Letters can be e-mailed to 500yearsofchicanohistory@gmail.com, or mailed to:

SouthWest Organizing Project
211 10th Street SW
Albuquerque, NM 87102

Students can also fill out the online form here.

The free book offer extends to the first 1,000 requests from Arizona students. By writing a letter, SWOP may print your letter on the Chicanohistory.org website. If you don't want your letter published, say so when you contact SWOP.
